About Co-Amoxiclav

Co-amoxiclav (Augmentin) is amoxicillin combined with clavulanic acid, which protects the antibiotic from resistance. It has a higher rate of GI side effects (diarrhoea, nausea) than plain amoxicillin. Take with food to reduce GI effects.

Avoid alcohol with co-amoxiclav — alcohol impairs your immune system and may worsen GI side effects, which are already common with this antibiotic.
